Listed below are some important details about the magazine. You can find submission guidelines as well as information about subscription and feedback here.
1. What is Spark?
Spark aims to be an online literary mag focusing on exploring literature, the many events happening in the world around us and spirituality. We intend to bring out an issue every month starting January 2010.
2. What are the various sections Spark will feature?
Like we mentioned earlier, literature, day-to-day events in the world around us and spirituality will be our base. This means we will feature short stories, poetry, book, music, movie reviews, cartoons, photography, non-fiction such as travel writing, commentaries on economy, current affairs, fashion, technology, ads, architecture, religious texts, and spiritual wisdom.
3. Are we free to choose any section to contribute on?
Of course, yes! We would be happy to have you contributing for us. However, we are absolutely particular that your content is 100% original.
4. Is there any word limit to the articles we wish to send?
Just so that it is easy on the readers, shall we say articles can be between 700 to 1500 words?
5. By when should we send in our contributions?
We would like to send out an issue on the fifth of every month and hence, would prefer articles to reach us by the 20th of the month prior to the issue. For example, for the issue dated January 05, 2010, we would like your articles to reach us by December 20, 2009. A similar process will follow for the subsequent issues. To help you, we are willing to send soft reminders to our contributors and subscribers (in case they wish to contribute for a forthcoming issue) reminding of submission deadlines before every issue.
6. To which ID should we mail our contributions?
Please send in your articles in Microsoft word format with your article title as the file name. For instance, if your article title is “summer showers”, please name your document “summer showers.doc”. Kindly mention your name inside the document. Please also mention the article title in the mail subject and email it to editors.spark@gmail.com
If you are sending us photographs, please send them as an attachment. In case you are sending us a painting done by you, please scan it and send it across as an image (jpg) file.
7. What should we do to subscribe to Spark?
A copy of every monthly issue will be made available on http://sparkthemag.wordpress.com. Nevertheless, in order to get immediate notification on the release of an issue, please enter your email under the “Email Subscription” option available on the right pane of this blog. An email notification from us will serve an easy reminder to pick up your issue. Kindly note that subscription to Spark is free. You can also opt to subscribe to our RSS feed.
8. We have some feedback for you. How do we let you know?
You could mail us your comments and feedback at comments.spark@gmail.com. Alternatively, you could leave your comments in http://sparkthemag.wordpress.com
9. We would like to tell our friends about Spark and pass the word around. What should we do?
As our subscribers and contributors, you are our biggest strength and motivation. Hi,
I found the look and idea of your clog very interesting. I would like to contribute my writings to your lit mag. Please don’t mind, but I would like to know if you pay your writers for contributing their work?
